Gone Boarding at Truckee High School

RMSP paid a visit to Truckee High School to check out the skateboard build process. What an incredible program they have over there. All students build and shape a skateboard in Gone Boarding 1, and in Gone Boarding 2 they get the choice of what to build.

We saw skis, snowboards, and surfboards all in production. Every aspect of the manufacturing process for board sports are covered in the class (CNC, Laser Engraving, Gluing, Pressing, Glassing, Edging), and students leave the class with a functional piece of hand-made awesome. Teacher Mike Bensley does an excellent job motivating students to make something great.

Rally for Rocker 8 – May 13, 2023 – Donner Summit

Carpool. Carpool. Carpool. CARPOOL!

Parking is extremely limited. DSR Overflow Lot is where we’re trying to put as many cars as possible. Parking along US 40 (Donner Pass Road) is allowed, please pull all the way off the road. We’ll likely have cars on 40 all the way to SB’s Gondola lot. If you’d like to carpool, a great meetup spot is at the public lot next to Donner Lake West End Beach.

Don’t park in the main DSR lot, they will be open. Don’t park at Summit House (staff only). Don’t park at Sugar Bowl. Don’t park along Sugar Bowl Road. Please.

Park smartly. Don’t litter. Be a good Human. Carpool. Carpool. Carpool. We can’t emphasize enough how important parking is to the event. Don’t park illegally, it’ll get us shut down. Carpool. Carpool. Carpool.

Pack it In, Pack it Out

Our future ability to host the Rally with the National Forest Service is dependent on zero trace. Help is needed Sunday for pickup & tear down activities. Sweeps of the parking area(s), DSR lot and local roads necessary.

There are no bathrooms on the summit or close to the course.

We will have two gross bucket toilets. Don’t use them … unless it’s a dire emergency. You’ve been warned.

NO DOGS – We love dogs, please don’t bring them. It’s for the safety of the racers and the dogs.

After Party at Donner Ski Ranch (DSR)

Roughly 4:30pm (after Rally Awards)

The Pedaling Mongos are playing Live Music on the deck.

  • DO: buy DSR’s Food and Drinks.
  • DON’T: bring your own Food and Drinks. Don’t Litter. Play nicely with others.

How Can You Help?

We need Parking Attendants – Paid Position

We need 4+ people to direct traffic. You will have enough time to hike up, register and get a practice lap in on Saturday too. You must be reliable and not bail on us. Drop us an email at: rockermemorialskatepark@gmail.com if you are down. We’ll add you to the alternate list.

Rally for Rocker 8 – Recap and Results

If the Rally for Rocker demonstrates one thing best, it’s the amazing community that exists in Truckee/Tahoe. The Rally is widely regarded as one of the best snowboard events of the year.

450+ Competitors, 100s of spectators, 50+ Volunteers. Our best guess is somewhere between 800-1000 people were on the summit on Saturday. That’s wild, and we hope you had fun.

Together, with incredible sponsor support, we raised over $25K with #rallyforrocker8, that’s epic. That doesn’t include a LOT of work and time donated by many volunteers. Thank you for your support.
