BIG Money is needed. Roughly $1.5-2M more. Permits expire in Dec 2026.

Rocker Memorial Skatepark Overview: December 2024
Funding Gap Explained
We’re pleased to announce that on Dec 4th, 2024 we were awarded $125,000 by Tahoe Truckee Airport District. We need help raising the remaining funds through grant applications and public reach out.

Why isn’t there a published date? We have to meet a 70% funding threshold (either cash in hand or committed donations of materials/labor) in order to break ground as specified in the MOU (Memorandum Of Understanding) between TDPRD & RMSP.

We have not been able to raise the funds. There was a potential bond measure via TDRPD, but the TDPRD board voted to not pursue this for this election cycle.

Links to the full estimate and TDRPD are below. The full estimated cost of the project is $3.3 Million.  The skatepark area by itself is roughly $1.5 Million, the rest being all of the civil improvements required (landscaping, curb/gutter/sidewalk, parking lot, wetland mitigation). 70% of $3.3M is $2.31M. We believe there’s up to $900K out there in in-kind donations of materials and labor. That leaves a deficit of roughly $1M in order for us to be able to break ground.

Rocker Memorial Skatepark Cost Estimate 5.15.24

The Rocker Memorial Skatepark Budget Estimate, prepared on May 15, 2024, outlines a total project cost of $3,388,143.11, inclusive of prevailing wage (PW) adjustments. Key components include on-site infrastructure such as road grading, drainage, landscaping, wetland fencing, and skatepark construction, totaling $2,510,004.00. Off-site infrastructure, including ADA-compliant sidewalks and curbing, adds $164,390.00. A 10% contingency and 15% for contractor insurance and project management bring the final total to $3.39 million.

Without prevailing wage adjustments, the budget decreases to $2,776,568.11, reflecting a difference of $611,575.00. The estimate accounts for fluctuations based on permitting requirements and construction timing. The skatepark construction, at $1,682,500, represents the largest single cost item, emphasizing its scale and importance. Additional ecological and accessibility improvements, such as wetland fencing and ADA ramps, align with community and environmental goals, ensuring a sustainable and inclusive project.
